Experience Summary

Mark McDonald is recognised as one of the most competent and most trusted lawyers in the region. He is a product of the Sydney University Law School and has over 40 years extensive experience in all aspects of and practices in the NSW Supreme Court and the District Court, as well as in the FairWork Commission and the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW.

Focus Areas of Practice

Mark assists clients in Commercial Law, Insurance Law, Employment Law and Building and Construction Law. Clients appreciate his forthright manner, his commercial approach and his ability to find solutions to problems and dilemmas for clients, and that – somewhat unusually for lawyers – he regards litigation as a last resort. In Commercial Litigation and Insurance Law he acts for individuals and companies and is not afraid to tackle difficult issues and to ‘take on’ Insurers. In Employment Law he acts for both employers or employees and has assisted in drafting of employment agreements and arrangements, and in resolving various types of employment difficulties.

Get to know Mark

Mark is the honorary Solicitor for North Wollongong Surf Club and for many years assisted and advised the KidzWish Foundation. Mark was the Chairman of the Healthier Illawarra Men Committee when it was first established and now continues to be a member of that community organisation. He was a founding director of the Illawarra Business Chamber and served as a director of that Chamber for a period of 10 years. He is a Life Member of APEX Australia. He is a Past President of Vikings Rugby Union Football Club.

He is a recipient of the Centenary Medal, which was awarded to him for services to the community.

Mark was instrumental in the successful resolution of claims for victims of storm damage throughout the Illawarra when the region was inundated by floods a number of years ago and also acted for over 100 Illawarra families in the fight by claimants who suffered losses in the Trio Capital fraud.

He has a long commitment to the practice of Law in the Illawarra and to the diligent service to his clients.
